Announcement: Moving to Europe . . .
A brief history:
3 years ago when we took the role of Regional Director for East Africa the region was expanding. There were missionaries in 3 countries and 2 more countries had missionaries on the way. Because of unforeseen circumstances, God redirected the missionaries in 4 of these 5 countries. When the region shrank to one country with only 5 missionaries, we began seeking the Lord’s guidance to see if He was redirecting.
Same role, different region:
We absolutely love serving missionaries and wanted to continue serving as a Regional Director. When the need for a Regional Director in Western Europe became known, we began praying about this opportunity with ABWE leadership to see if it would be a good fit. After much prayer and counsel, we accepted the role of Regional Director for Western Europe.
We will be moving to Lisbon, Portugal this July and overseeing the 100+ ABWE missionaries in Portugal, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Germany, Norway and Italy.
There is still a great need for the gospel in these Post-Christian countries. We are very excited to have the opportunity to build into missionaries in Western Europe!
Walk by FAITH (Step by Step):
God’s ways are definitely not our ways (Is. 55:8-9). Our plans were to stay in Africa. This change has taught us to walk with Him more than ever before. We knew we needed to transition, but didn’t know where we would move or what we would do. But we started taking steps toward change. We now better understand God’s command to Abram: “Go to the land I will show you”. He shows us one step at a time. After we take a step, He reveals another. We walk step by step.
Has God challenged your heart to get involved in ministering to others? (It could be in your church or across the globe.) If He has, don’t wait until you know all the answers. Take the first step. He will faithfully lead & equip you to do ministries you never expected. And when He does, He receives the glory!
- That we and our girls will adjust to life in a new country.
- That we will be a blessing to the missionaries in Western Europe.
- That God will use us to advance the gospel.
- That God will help us learn Portuguese.
- That God will provide the finances for the move.
- That our visas will be processed quickly so we can move in July.
P.S. Nothing will change on how donations are sent in to ABWE.
Help us move to Portugal
A few people have asked how to help. Here are a few ways to get involved if the Lord leads:
1. Monthly Support:
To help cover the cost of visiting missionaries in 8 different countries, we need to raise some additional monthly support.
To increase your current monthly donation Call ABWE Donor Services 1-800-901-2293.
Total monthly need: $300
2. Moving Expenses:
We will have the unexpected one-time costs of moving to Portugal.
Some of the costs are:
- • Plane tickets ($4,000)
- • Container ($5,000)
- • Housing items ($3,000)
- • Visas ($2,000)
Total estimated cost: $14,000
3. Notes of Encouragement:
This will be our girls 2nd international move in under 3 years and they are leaving the country, friends and school they love. The girls are doing well with the move, but any notes of encouragement (even from your children) to let them know you are praying for them would be a great blessing. (Abby - 15, Emily - 14, Natalie - 8).
Notes can be emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org
4. Personal Gift:
Having lived in Africa for 11 years, we own very few warm clothes! (It rarely drops below 75F here in Tanzania.) To keep from freezing in Europe we need to buy warmer clothes (boots, long sleeve shirts & jackets) for us and our girls. Purchases of clothing come from our personal funds. If you would like to give a small personal gift it would help cover some of these costs incurred by our family.
Thanks for prayerfully considering how you can partner as we move to Portugal and begin ministering to the missionaries in Western Europe!

WHY a ministry to missionaries?
As Regional Director, our ministry is to serve the missionaries of ABWE.
WHY is this ministry important?
Missions life is difficult.
The missionaries we serve face a unique blend of difficulties (Separation from family, living in a foreign country, learning a new language, discouragement, loneliness, and the list goes on...).
Our goal is to do whatever we can to keep missionaries on the field and thriving in ministry!
As missionaries, families and teams stay encouraged and working well, hinderances are removed and the work of the gospel can expand!
