Why is this important?
This ensures that your prayer and financial supporters are actually getting your emails.
Recently, one of our Western Europe missionaries had a church contact ABWE and say they were dropping support because they were not receiving the prayer letters. However, they had been faithfully sending updates, the pastor was just not receiving them.

1. Authenticate your email address
Total time: 2 minutes
If you don’t do authenticate your address, when MailChimp sends out your email, it looks like it came from Mailchimp, not your abwe address. So people’s Junk/Spam filters it into the junk folder. By authenticating your email address, it will look like it comes from you. I just made this change and my own emails which had been going into junk are now coming to my inbox.
The ABWE IT Department has made a tutorial how to do this. In MailChimp when it asks you to modify the DNS records, don’t worry about it. Nathan Burgess has already done it. The DNS pointers are already in place. Just click “Authenticate Domain”.

If you use Gmail or something other than your ABWE email address, follow these instructions.
2. Send a follow up email
Authenticating your email should take care of the majority of your problems.
Sending a follow up email isn't absolutely necessary, but could be an extra measure to ensure everyone gets your updates.
Total time:
10-15 minutes the first time depending on your mailing list size.
3 minutes each time after that.
Step 1: Export your contact list from MailChimp
https://mailchimp.com/help/view-export-contacts/
Step 2:
Open the zip file that MailChimp exported and locate the subscribed members CSV file.
Step 3:
Copy and paste 25 or 33 emails at a time into the BCC line of an email.
Step 4:
In the Subject put something like “Update from the _________”
Step 5:
Paste something like the following as the body of the email:
Hi everyone,
You should have received our update (from your email here) in the last hour. If you can’t find it, please check your spam folder or your promotion tab.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if needed.
Step 6:
Send them out.
Step 7:
To save time in the future, move all of them from your sent folder into another folder. Next time you send out a prayer letter, just go in and click “Send Again” for each email.
